Help / FAQ

  • I don't see an SVG.

When you download an SVG cut file from Owl Cottage Store (or from any other platform), the SVG might not always appear with the typical SVG icon. Instead, it could manifest as an HTML Document or a Chrome HTML document. This can sometimes be confusing as it will adopt the same icon as your default internet browser.

How to Use the SVG: Despite its appearance, this file is indeed an SVG and is fully compatible with design programs. To use it:

 Launch your preferred design software.

Use the software's 'Open' function to navigate to the location where you saved the downloaded file.

Select and open the file that appears as an HTML or Chrome HTML document. It should load as a standard SVG in your design software.

Need Further Assistance? If you continue to experience issues or the SVG file isn't functioning as expected within your design program, please feel free to contact me. I am here to assist you.

  • The file is not opening when I click on it.
You must first unzip the file before opening it in your program. Be sure you open the file within your program.

    • How do I unzip my downloaded SVG Files / Bundles?

When you download one of my products, it will come in a .zip-archive format. You will have to unzip it. In the unzipped file, you will find six formats – SVG, DXF, JPEG, PDF, PNG, and EPS.

    On a Windows computer:

    - right click on the file

    - select Extract All

    - select the location you would like the file to be placed

    - select OK

    - the file is now unzipped and ready to use.

    On a Mac computer:

    - just double-click on the zipped folder.

    • Do you have a mailing list? How can I find out about new releases and stuff?

Yes. But I'm a total newbie at this. That's why I write, most likely 1-2 times a month, or on the occasion of some outstanding event or holiday.

You can sign up for it here! Alternatively, I’d recommend that you follow my Owl Cottage Studio Facebook page or my Instagram. I almost always post there with updates about new products, sales, events, and other goings-on!

    • Are there embroidery versions of your designs?

Not yet, but I'm planning to start a whole separate project where there will only be embroidery patterns. For hand embroidery, I prepare completely different designs. Those that will be best

suited for this type of crafting art.

Therefore, stay in touch to be informed
